Until 2005, Roy Butler painted in the colonial town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He now resides in Temple, TX
Born in Fresno, California He served as a Marine fighter pilot during the Korean War. After leaving the service he joined Pan AM retiring in 1990 as the managing director of flight training. He then worked as a research scientist at University of Texas until moving to San Miguel 2000.
In 1967 he moved to New York where he won first prize in at the Locust Valley, New York Annual. Early in 1968 he moved to Roswell, New Mexico, where he was instrumental in the opening of a Community Art Center.
In Roswell, Roy had his first one man show and was invited to show his paintings at the Bruckner Museum in Albion, Michigan.
Returning to New York in 1969 he had one man shows at Queensboro Community College, Manhattan Community College and New York State University in Farmingdale. More recently he had shows in Sarasota, FL and Waco, TX.
